This event is part of our Pituitary Awareness Month campaign. For this years’ Awareness Month, our focus will be ‘A lifetime of hormone health.’ For most people, a diagnosis of a pituitary condition is life-long and can impact many aspects of your life, from school and education, to work, relationships, family life and more. We want to help you feel empowered to manage your condition at any stage of life, and we hope this campaign will do just that!

This session was jointly given by Dr Indi Banerjee, Consultant Paediatric Endocrinologist, and Helen Stokes, Specialist Endocrine Nurse. Indi and Helen are based at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust.

The talk is aimed at parents and carers and covers the following:

  • Noticing signs of possible pituitary conditions in children, such as delayed or excellerated growth and puberty
  • Knowing what is ‘normal’ for children’s growth and what could be cause for concern
  • What causes pituitary conditions in children and how are they treated
  • Understanding and managing adrenal crises in children
