As a charity, we are committed to creating accurate, trustworthy health information that supports you to make informed decisions about your health and treatment. We are accreddited members of the Patient Information Forum (PIF) and much of our health information hold the PIF TICK mark for quality health information. All of our health information is created in collaboration with medical experts and is created from up-to-date, high quality evidence sources.
What is the PIF TICK?

The PIF TICK is basically the stamp of approval from the Patient Information Forum (PIF). If a piece of health information holds the PIF TICK, this means it has been created following a robust, PIF-approved process that ensures the information is trustworthy, evidence-backed and meets the needs of its users.
As accreddited members of PIF, a lot of our information holds this mark of quality. That means you can trust it has been created with experts, reviewed by patients and reflects up to date evidence and best practice.
Why is this important?
Being able to access accurate, reliable information is very important for many reasons. If you, or a loved one, has been diagnosed with a health condition, chances are you have relied on health information at some point when trying to understand this. You may have questions about what a condition is, how it may impact you, or what type of treatment may be best. Trusted health information, such as website pages, booklets or videos, can help give you the information you need.
However, as artificial intelligence becomes more commonly used across search engines and other areas of the internet, many charities are increasingly worried about the misinformation this is spreading. AI search summaries are now commonly used by many people to quickly find answers to things, but often they pull information from unreliable sources such as internet forums, YouTube videos and unverified website pages. Some charities have noticed that AI search summaries share inaccurrate information, leading to people being misinformed about important topics.
This is particularly damaging for people with rare conditions, where there is already not much information available to help you understand your condition and make decisions about your care.
What we are doing to tackle this
We have recently signed the Patient Information Forum open letter asking the government to lead the development of a UK-wide framework for safe AI-generated health information. We recognise that better regulation is needed to protect the public from misinformation about their health.
We stand with the Patient Information Forum in their commitment to work with the UK Government, the health system, regulators and technology companies to develop and implement a shared framework that improves the safety, quality and trustworthiness of AI-generated health information.
We are also committed to creating accurate, accessible health information about pituitary conditions and their management. All our of information is created with support from leading endocrine experts and people with lived experience of pituitary conditions. If you are turning to The Pituitary Foundation for health information you know this information you can trust.
