The pharmaceutical company Pfizer produces the growth hormone drug Genotropin (somatropin). The drug is available in three different device options:

  1. Genotropin MiniQuick: a disposable single-use device with a syringe that is used to mix and administer a dose
  2. Genotropin GoQuick: a disposable pre-filled and re-usable pen device that can be used for a month
  3. Genotropin reusable pen device: a re-chargeable, re-usable pen device that can last for up to 2 years

As of Februrary 2026, the Pfizer Genotropin reusable pen device in both 5mg and 12mg are out of stock.

The Genotropin MiniQuick device and Genotropin GoQuick pen device will still be available. Please get in touch with your GP or endocrinologist if you have any concerns about this.

If you are currently using the Pfizer Genotropin reusable pen device, you will be switched to an alternative device once your pen’s battery life has expired.


The Genotropin reusable pen device shortage is expected to last until at least early 2027. We will be sharing more updates on this shortage when we have more information.
