Time: 10am - 4pm
Location: Clayton Hotel Cardiff, St Mary St, Cardiff CF10 1GD - a 5 min walk from Cardiff Central Station

It’s been a long time since we’ve come together as a pituitary community and we want to change that. We are organising 3 Get-togethers to bring everyone together throughout 2023 and 2024. These will be different from past conferences – they will be smaller, more personal and regional events. We’ll be meeting you in Glasgow, Cardiff and Manchester, ensuring that as many of you as possible can join us!

Our first event took place in Glasgow in November 2023. Our next Get-together will be in Cardiff and we welcome everyone to join us to connect and engage with other people with a similar pituitary journey.

We’ll have brilliant talks from medical professionals, and you’ll also have the opportunity to meet staff and members of The Pituitary Foundation.

Our speakers are:

Professor John Wass – John is a Professor of Endocrinology at Oxford University and was the head of the Department Endocrinology at the Churchill Hospital Oxford. John’s talk will include:

  • an overview of pituitary conditions within endocrinology
  • look at changes in how pituitary conditions can be diagnosed
  • changes in the treatment for pituitary conditions
  • looking to the future of endocrine care.

Dr Sue Jackson – Sue is a chartered psychologist who researches endocrine disorders, and how the health service can be improved. She’s been involved with The Pituitary Foundation for more than two decades and writes psychological advice for people affected by pituitary conditions. Sue will be running an interactive workshop on relationships and wellbeing. The workshop will include:

  • how relationships change when living with a chronic condition
  • ways to improve your wellbeing
  • opportunities to reflect on certain elements (although you won’t be asked to share your thoughts).

Panel of local medical professionals – Dr Carol Evans, Consultant Clinical Scientist at the Cardiff Endocrinology Lab and Prof Aled Rees, endocrinologist at University Hospital Wales. Both will answer general questions about diagnosis pituitary conditions and how to manage most common symptoms.
