The Pituitary Founation

The Pituitary Foundation Forum

UPDATE (February 2010)

The Pituitary Foundation is currently programming new forum software to re-launch this service to our community. We hope to launch the new forum in the first quarter of 2010. We will make announcements through this website and our newsletter, Pituitary Life.

Please note: The new forum will be a service provided to subscribed members only. If you are not a subscribed member of The Pituitary Foundation and wish to take advantage of this service when it is reinstated, please click on the “Become a Member” icon at the top of The Foundation’s website (www.pituitary.org.uk) or download a membership form from the membership section. While supplies last, there is a free bag-for-life with each new membership so take advantage now.

UPDATE (30 April 2009)

The Trustees of The Pituitary Foundation would like to thank those who replied to our call for Volunteer Forum Moderators.  The response was heart warming and overwhelming.  We would like you to know that we are currently developing a Volunteer Role Description for Moderators.  If you e-mailed us with your wish to volunteer, you will receive a copy of this Role Description within the next six weeks (from the date above).

As time allows, we will attempt to keep you updated on the future of this forum with dated notes on this page, so stay tuned here for news.

We appreciate your patience with this process.

FORUM CLOSED (1st April 2009)

In recent weeks there has been a spate of the kind of activity which could offend, upset or mislead users of the forum. To protect them, and to avoid the risk that this behaviour might bring the charity into disrepute, the Trustees have decided to withdraw the service to allow them to consider its future.

Please note that no further correspondence or communication with staff or trustees will be entered into whilst consideration is given to the future of the forum. We will of course welcome applications from volunteers prepared to act as future site moderators should this facility be reinstalled.

CALL FOR VOLUNTEER MONITORS

It is already clear that, if the service is to be reinstated, we will need to operate a more intensive monitoring policy to ensure that any unsuitable material is removed immediately and to maintain a supportive and encouraging experience for all legitimate users. We would welcome offers of support from members of the charity for this activity. If you are interested in applying to offer this kind of help, for which you will receive training, please indicate your interest at helpline@pituitary.org.uk.
