About The Pituitary Foundation
It is estimated that there are between 50,000 and 70,000 pituitary patients in the United Kingdom.  To meet the need for information and support, in 1994, The Pituitary Foundation was launched, with charitable status following in September 1996.  The Foundation is now a national support, information and advocacy organisation for pituitary patients, their families, friends and carers.  The Foundation operates throughout the UK and Republic of Ireland.

Staff

The Foundation employs the following staff:

Ms Menai Owen-Jones (Foundation Manager) - Menai joined The Pituitary Foundation back in 2009 as our Fundraising Manager and from September 2011 is now managing the charity. Menai was born, and brought up, in North Wales and is a fluent Welsh speaker. After graduating from Cardiff University she began her professional career working as a community fundraiser for a local hospice in North Wales. Menai has been involved with the voluntary sector for ten years, both as a volunteer, and as an employee.

Mrs Pat McBride (Patient Support Manager) - Pat began her link with The Foundation back in 1995, as a Volunteer Area Co-ordinator, launching Liverpool Support Group in 1996.  Pat's pituitary condition of pituitary abscess, DI and high Prolactin was diagnosed in 1986 resulting in craniotomy surgery and Pat takes all replacement hormones to this day.  Pat started as a Regional Co-ordinator working with Local Support Groups and on the Early Awareness Project (EAP).  In August 2006, Pat became the Patient Support Manager (and likely, those of you who have been around for awhile will have noticed her making her mark) with responsibilities including the National HelpLine, Pituitary Life editor and our Telephone Buddy service.

Mr Neil Jefferis (Business Controller) - Neil has been at The Foundation, seemingly forever, and is a source of sometimes much needed historical data.  Working four days a week, Neil is responsible for expense payments, invoice payments, payroll, finance input, monthly balancing, membership, facilities management, office management and liaising with our vendors.  Whew!  Over the years we have coaxed out of him that he is a renowned rabbit breeder (in fact, in 2008, he won top of the heap at the rabbit world's rendition of Crufts) and top judge at rabbit shows.  A man of many talents.

Mrs Alison Milne (Endocrine Specialist Nurse) - Alison was born and brought up in the Highlands of Scotland. Alison attended nursing college in Aberdeen and has over twenty years of varied nursing experience, predominantly in Endocrinology.  She currently works as a part-time Endocrine Specialist Nurse in Aberdeen Royal Infirmary. Alison is thoroughly enjoying her role within The Pituitary Foundation and cannot believe it is almost two years since she took up her post and hopes that the pituitary community has benefitted from her extra hours and her experience.  She is looking forward to continuing her ongoing learning and hopes her knowledge will help to support the ever increasing pituitary community.

Mr. Michael Waterlow (Membership and Fundraising Administrator) - Mike began working for The Foundation in October 2010 after attending the Bristol Local Support Group as a patient. Mike has a BA from Staffordshire University and a post-graduate diploma in law from Glamorgan University. In other words, our members have a highly qualified gent looking after them! Mike has a varied and interesting work history, including being an English teacher in China for two years. Mike lives in Bristol and was born in Watford and is thrilled to be working for the benefit of our members and assisting in fundraising efforts.
